The Kitchen Company was started in a suburban garage in 1981 by Peter Batley. With Peter’s dedication to exceptional service and high quality design and manufacturing, the business grew and today we have the biggest showroom and workshop in the Canberra region.
The Kitchen Company is now run by Adam and Charlotte Batley, Peter’s son and daughter in law, who share his passion for creating beautiful and affordable custom-made kitchens.
We are proud to be a locally owned and operated Canberra business, and we believe it is important to give back to the community. We employ 20 local Canberrans, we offer vocational training and apprenticeships, we source products and materials from local suppliers and all our kitchens and laundries are manufactured in our Fyshwick workshop by qualified cabinet makers and joiners. We also support local events and charities.
The history of The Kitchen Company dates back to 1981 when Peter Batley started a business called 'Batley's Maintenance Service' in a suburban Canberra garage. During this time, Peter offered all types of home maintenance work including small kitchen facelifts.
After finding his passion in kitchen facelifts, Peter Batley moves his business to a warehouse in Hume and commences trading as Kitchen Facelift Pty Ltd and employs his first 2 staff members.
With his son, Adam by his side, Peter made the big move to opening The Kitchen Company in Fyshwick. The Wiluna St premises displays Canberra's largest kitchen showroom and manufactures all kitchens onsite.
After many years of working in all areas of the business, Peter Batley's son, Adam Batley, solely takes over managing The Kitchen Company. Adam's experience in designing, manufacturing, installation, and project management became the backbone to The Kitchen Company's success and trusted reputation.
Adam Batley and his wife Charlotte purchase The Kitchen Company from Adam's father, Peter Batley. Now with 20 staff including 5 qualified Interior Designers and 10 manufacturing staff. The Kitchen Company is still a trusted name in the Canberra Community and is a part of major Canberra events such as Floriade. Now over 4000 Canberra homes have a Kitchen Company kitchen.
